Lawyer in trade and export development

Foundation for Support of Reforms in Ukraine is opening a competition for the position of Lawyer(legal support) in trade and export development for the «TIPSTER program: trade, intellectual property support and technical regulation».

The TIPSTER project is implemented by the NGO «Foundation for Support of Reforms in Ukraine» with the financial support of the German government within the framework of the international cooperation project ReACT4UA («Application and implementation of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine in the field of trade»), the executor of which is the German federal company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The project is aimed at increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises, especially given the accession to the EU.

Your duties as a Lawyer will include:

  • providing legal support on existing and potential preferential agreements, export development and economic partnership with the EU (analysis and development of recommendations for amendments to the Free Trade Agreements, proposals for ongoing negotiations on new Free Trade Agreements to stimulate Ukrainian exports in certain areas, including removal of obstacles to Ukrainian exports currently existing in the relevant markets, etc.);

  • development of drafts of necessary regulatory acts and strategic documents upon request of the Ministry of Economy (up to 5 regulatory acts on amendments to existing regulatory acts);

  • provide legal support in the framework of the analysis of the EU accession process of certain countries, in particular Macedonia, Croatia and Montenegro, to identify opportunities and use negotiating positions used by the above countries, such as transition periods, exceptions, etc;

  • provide support in organizing events/workshops/seminars/meetings that will take place as part of the project implementation; if necessary, participate in such events;

  • development of information and communication materials to inform stakeholders about the tasks implemented as part of the legal support of the project;

  • assistance in translation of strategic documents and interpretation (upon request).

Requirements:

  • documented experience and professional experience in the relevant field of 5 years or more;

  • high level of analytical and communication skills;

  • experience in EU-funded or similar projects would be an advantage;

  • fluent English.
