A Roundtable discussion on changes in the field of intellectual property under martial law was held

As part of the Intellectual Property component of the TIPSTER project, a focused discussion took place — a roundtable on “Legislative changes in regulating deadlines for actions related to the protection of intellectual property rights during martial law”.

“The Intellectual Property component team contributes expertise to existing legal acts to facilitate Ukraine’s economic integration with the EU. The component has already provided expert support on five sections of the National Intellectual Property Strategy and continues to actively work on improving the legislative framework in this area,” said Valeriy Kokot, Head of the TIPSTER project.

Representatives of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovation, businesses, academic institutions, and patient communities joined the discussion.

“We support Ukraine on its path to EU membership and we are making every effort to ensure this happens as soon as possible. We work and believe in victory,” emphasized Ruslan Lazarenko, Advisor to the international ReACT4UA program, GIZ in Ukraine.

The participants highlighted the importance of such meetings:

“Thanks to GIZ, in addition to the formal cooperation between the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the TIPSTER project, we have the opportunity to participate in independent expert discussions and public platforms for exchanging ideas and providing prompt organizational and technical support on relevant issues,” said Dmytro Guziy, Acting Head of the Intellectual Property and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

Oksana Kashyntseva, advisor of the director of the IP office, added:

“Organizing such meetings of unbiased professional circles creates a balanced expert format that fosters objective decision-making.”

As a result of the meeting, possible concepts for legislative changes were discussed, and an agreement on a roadmap for further actions to comprehensively address the issues was reached.

We thank all participants for their fruitful contributions, engagement, and commitment to the future of intellectual property rights in Ukraine during these challenging times!

The meeting was moderated by Anton Kapitonenko, leader of the Intellectual Property component of the TIPSTER project, and Dmytro Guziy, Acting Head of the Intellectual Property and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
