ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE IN EASTERN UKRAINE AND RECOVERY PRIORITIES

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine together with the Reform Support Team operating at this Ministry issued the brochure on the aftermath of armed Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine called "Environmental Damage in Eastern Ukraine and Recovery Priorities".

The brochure analyzes the effects of the war in Eastern Ukraine and highlights the environmental damage made, among other things, by operational disruptions and incidents at the region's facilities. The damage has been done to lands and terrain, surface and underground waters, vegetation, and wildlife as well.

Importantly, the Donetsk and Luhansk regions specialized in potentially hazardous businesses: thus, only during 2014-2017 more than 500 cases of incidents were recorded in these war-torn regions.
